About Me

I am an Assistant Professor in the Division of Biostatistics at the University of Minnesota. I joined the Division of Biostatistics in 2009 after completing my PhD in biostatistics at the University of Washington. In real life, I develop statistical methodology for the evaluation of diagnostic tests (i.e. PSA test for prostate cancer or mammography for breast cancer) and provide statistical support for researchers in the cancer center. Of course, this blog wouldn’t exist if I wasn’t also interested in statistical applications in sports. If, for some inconceivable reason, you want to learn more about what I do in real life, you can check out my official faculty profile. In my free time, I enjoy watching sports of all kind, playing (very mediocre) golf, competing* in strongman competitions and spending time with my beautiful wife and wonderful son.

*I use the term “competing” very loosely. What I really mean is, I enter strongman contests and finish last.
