Hey football fans! The season starts on Thursday night, are you ready
for kick-off?
I’ll get to the pre-season rankings momentarily but first I thought it
would worthwhile to rundown some important news from the offseason.
First, conference realignment was out in full force. Here are the eight
teams changing conferences for the 2012 season along with their current and
previous conference:

Several teams are facing post-season bans for various NCAA infractions.
The Big 10 Leader’s Division is taking the brunt of the punishment with 1/3 of
the division ineligible for post-season play. Here are the four teams
ineligible for post-season due to NCAA probation:
- North Carolina
- Ohio State
- Penn State
- Central Florida
Finally, four teams are making the jump from the Championship
Subdivision (formerly Division 1-AA) to the Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division
1-A). It’s unlikely that they will play much of a factor this year but it’s
worth noting their presence:
- Texas State – WAC
- University of Texas at San Antonio – WAC
- South Alabama – Sun Belt
- University of Massachusetts – MAC
good to have ya back, Joe. Excited for another wild season of cfa. any insight on my dawgs and if they can make the leap to nat'l title contender?
ReplyDeleteI hadn't given Georgia much though but, now that you mention it, the Dawgs are a primed for a good season. They catch a big break with the schedule (no Alabama or LSU), have the best QB in the conference and an apparent Heisman candidate on defense. That should keep Richt off the hot seat for a good month or two!
