Hey football fans! I’m a little behind schedule (having missed the first
couple of games of the bowl season) but the bulk of the bowls are still to come
and it is never too late for my bowl preview! The short summary for every bowl
can be found below but I first thought I’d give a few thoughts to summarize:
1. I did not have a good championship weekend!
I only got one of the four major championship games (ACC, Big 10, Pac 12 and SEC)
+ the Bedlam Game correct and it was the easy one (FSU over Duke). To be fair,
my predictions were consistent with the Vegas lines but it is never fun to go 1
for 5.
2. My rankings still love Florida State and
have them favored by 19 over Auburn. The Seminoles are considered a heavy
favorite by most but 19 is a lot of points for the championship game.
3. The top 10 was largely unchanged after
championship weekend. Clemson was the only team to drop out of the top 10 and
was replaced with Missouri, which, frankly, is hard to explain. Auburn did,
though, move up a couple of spots to #13 thanks to their victory over Missouri,
though.
4. Tonight is a big night for my alma maters!
First, my current employer and MS alma mater the University of Minnesota plays
Syracuse in the Texas Bowl. I have the Gophers favored by about 4. Later on, my
PhD alma Mater the University of Washington plays BYU in the Fight Hunger Bowl.
I have the Huskies favored by about 6 and a half. Go Gophers and Huskies!
